Lost beauty
Hidesign revives the lost art of stitching with its Marca Punto Collection. The beautiful stitching, which originated in Florence, was abandoned in Italy almost 20 years ago for being time consuming. In Marca Punto, known to be a heritage craft exclusive to Florence, every stitch is embossed patiently stitch-by-stitch with a heated metal foot.
The bags exhibit the depth and the burn of the gorgeous stitch, a character only achievable in vegetable tan leather. Chione with its clean shape puts the focus on the Marca Punto stitch, while Cressida with its dual colour and unique shape brings out the
crafted luxury. Its beauty is something else; it’s the result of an art and skill that needs revival. Great beauty can only be achieved by slow measures like patient stitching on the bags.
Indian twist
Living in the US, finding it difficult to source quality Indian footwear, Ekta Sethi wondered why there can’t be a shoe that is stylish yet comfortable, that marries the present and the past, which is majestic yet relaxed. Rungg came into being to fill just that gap, introducing shoes that embrace the classic traditional Indian with a flare of the present.
The designs are Ekta’s interpretation of the jutti, with an aim to take it to a global level and break the norms of wearing embroidered shoes only with Indian wear. The designs are unique, timeless and art-inspired, completely handcrafted with intricate hand embroidery, yet are contemporary and comfortable to be worn with western wear that take you seamlessly through day and night. Bringing an Indian twist to the classic wedge heel, each design makes a statement. These shoes are for those who love an eccentric mélange of Indian karigari with a stylish touch.
